CVE-2026-107815·MariaDB vulnerability
MariaDB server is a community developed fork of MySQL server. From 10.6.1 until 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2, the CONNECT engine's DOS table type used an incorrect boundary check that permitted a one-byte null write beyond a stack buffer at an attacker-controlled offset. An authenticated user able to use the CONNECT engine could cause a crash and potentially remote code execution. This issue is fixed in versions 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2.

How likely is exploitation
FIRST's Exploit Prediction Scoring System puts the probability of this CVE being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.58% — higher than 46% of all published CVEs. EPSS is an independent forecast of exploitation, not a severity rating: it says nothing about how much damage a successful attack does, which is what a CVSS score measures.
Read the two together. CVE-2026-107815 scores 8.5 on CVSS, so a successful attack would be serious — but at 0.58%, almost nobody is currently attempting it. That is a different situation from a flaw under mass exploitation, and it is usually the difference between patching on your next maintenance window and patching tonight.

How to fix this CVE
Update MariaDB to version 11.8.9 or later to address a critical buffer overflow vulnerability in the CONNECT engine's DOS table handler. This flaw allows authenticated database users to write a single null byte beyond stack buffer boundaries at a controlled offset, potentially leading to denial of service or code execution. Immediate patching is recommended for all production environments where the CONNECT engine is enabled.
sudo dnf update mariadb-serverDefensia detects this vulnerability
How to check if you are affected
- Check the installed MariaDB version: mysql --version or mariadb --version
- Verify CONNECT engine availability: mysql -e 'SHOW ENGINES;' | grep -i connect
- List active database users with authentication credentials: mysql -e 'SELECT user, host, authentication_string FROM mysql.user WHERE user NOT IN ("root", "mariadb.sys");'
- Confirm the patch by checking the version again after update and verifying it matches 11.8.9-ds-1 or later
FAQ
What is CVE-2026-107815?
CVE-2026-107815 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in MariaDB's CONNECT storage engine that allows authenticated users to write a null byte beyond buffer boundaries at a controlled offset, risking server crashes or arbitrary code execution.
Is CVE-2026-107815 being actively exploited?
No, this vulnerability is not currently listed in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog and no public exploits are available, though organizations should still prioritize patching given the high severity rating.
What versions of MariaDB are affected by CVE-2026-107815?
Vulnerable versions include the entire 10.6 series up to 10.6.27, 10.11 series up to 10.11.18, 11.4 series up to 11.4.12, 11.8 series up to 11.8.8, 12.3 series up to 12.3.2, and 13.0 series up to 13.0.1.
How do I check if my server is vulnerable to CVE-2026-107815?
Run 'mariadb --version' to check your version against the affected ranges listed above. Additionally, verify the CONNECT engine is loaded with 'SHOW ENGINES;' since the vulnerability only impacts systems with CONNECT enabled.
Does Defensia detect CVE-2026-107815?
Yes — Defensia's CVE advisory scanner compares installed package versions against the NVD database. If MariaDB is installed on a monitored server, CVE-2026-107815 will appear in your dashboard with remediation steps.
