CVE-2026-23498·PHP vulnerability
Shopware is an open commerce platform. From 6.7.0.0 to before 6.7.6.1, a regression of CVE-2023-2017 leads to an array and array crafted PHP Closure not checked being against allow list for the map(...) override. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.7.6.1.

How likely is exploitation
FIRST's Exploit Prediction Scoring System puts the probability of this CVE being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.41% — higher than 33% of all published CVEs. EPSS is an independent forecast of exploitation, not a severity rating: it says nothing about how much damage a successful attack does, which is what a CVSS score measures.
Read the two together. CVE-2026-23498 scores 7.2 on CVSS, so a successful attack would be serious — but at 0.41%, almost nobody is currently attempting it. That is a different situation from a flaw under mass exploitation, and it is usually the difference between patching on your next maintenance window and patching tonight.

How to fix this CVE
Upgrade PHP and Shopware to version 6.7.6.1 or later to patch the closure validation bypass in the map() function override. This regression allows unauthenticated attackers with high privileges to bypass the allow-list check for crafted PHP closures, potentially leading to code execution. Apply the update immediately to all production instances running Shopware 6.7.0.0 through 6.7.6.0.

How to check if you are affected
- Step 1: Check the installed Shopware version with: php -r 'require "vendor/shopware/core/Framework/Util/VersionParser.php"; echo \Shopware\Core\Framework\Util\VersionParser::parseVersion(\Shopware\Core\Framework\Util\VersionParser::SHOPWARE_FALLBACK_VERSION);'
- Step 2: Verify if map() function overrides exist in your Shopware configuration by searching: grep -r "->map(" config/ src/ --include="*.php" | grep -i closure
- Step 3: Monitor application logs for error messages related to closure validation or allow-list failures: grep -E '(closure|allow.?list|map.*override)' var/log/*.log | grep -i error
- Step 4: Confirm the patch was applied by checking the commit hash from the official repository matches your installation: cd /path/to/shopware && git log --oneline | grep 3966b05
FAQ
What is CVE-2026-23498?
This vulnerability is a regression in Shopware that fails to properly validate PHP closures against an allow-list when using the map() function override. Attackers with high-level privileges can exploit this to inject arbitrary closures and achieve code execution.
Is CVE-2026-23498 being actively exploited?
No, this vulnerability is not currently listed on the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog and no public exploits are available. However, the high CVSS score of 7.2 and code execution potential warrant immediate patching.
What versions of Shopware are affected by CVE-2026-23498?
Shopware versions 6.7.0.0 through 6.7.6.0 are affected. The vulnerability is fixed in version 6.7.6.1 and later.
How do I check if my server is vulnerable to CVE-2026-23498?
Run: composer show | grep shopware/core and verify the version. If it shows 6.7.0.0 to 6.7.6.0, your installation is vulnerable and requires immediate upgrade to 6.7.6.1 or later.
Does Defensia detect CVE-2026-23498?
Yes — Defensia's CVE advisory scanner compares installed package versions against the NVD database. If Shopware is installed on a monitored server, CVE-2026-23498 will appear in your dashboard with remediation steps.
