CVE-2021-47410·Kernel vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdkfd: fix svm_migrate_fini warning Device manager releases device-specific resources when a driver disconnects from a device, devm_memunmap_pages and devm_release_mem_region calls in svm_migrate_fini are redundant. How likely is exploitation
FIRST's Exploit Prediction Scoring System puts the probability of this CVE being exploited in the next 30 days at <0.1% — higher than 3% of all published CVEs. EPSS is an independent forecast of exploitation, not a severity rating: it says nothing about how much damage a successful attack does, which is what a CVSS score measures.

How to fix this CVE
Update your Linux kernel to version 5.14.11 or later to resolve this device resource management issue in the AMD KFD driver. This patch eliminates redundant memory unmapping operations that were triggered during driver disconnect, preventing kernel warnings and potential stability issues. Systems running kernel versions 3.19 through 5.14.10 should prioritize this update, particularly if using AMD GPUs with KFD support.

How to check if you are affected
- Step 1: Check your current kernel version by running `uname -r` and verify if it is earlier than 5.14.11
- Step 2: Confirm AMD KFD driver is in use by checking if the amdkfd module is loaded with `lsmod | grep amdkfd`
- Step 3: Search system logs for the warning signature with `sudo dmesg | grep -i 'devm_release_action' && sudo grep -r 'svm_migrate_fini' /var/log/`
- Step 4: After updating the kernel, reboot and verify the new version with `uname -r`, then confirm the warning is absent in `dmesg` output
FAQ
What is CVE-2021-47410?
CVE-2021-47410 is a kernel vulnerability in AMD KFD's SVM migration logic where redundant resource deallocation calls trigger kernel warnings during driver disconnection. This occurs because the device manager already handles resource cleanup, making explicit calls in svm_migrate_fini unnecessary.
Is CVE-2021-47410 being actively exploited?
No, this vulnerability is not being actively exploited and has not been added to the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. No public exploits are available.
What versions of Kernel are affected by CVE-2021-47410?
Linux kernel versions 3.19 through 5.14.10 are affected. The vulnerability was resolved in kernel version 5.14.11 and later.
How do I check if my server is vulnerable to CVE-2021-47410?
Run `uname -r` to see your kernel version. If the output shows a version earlier than 5.14.11 and `lsmod | grep amdkfd` returns results, your system is vulnerable.
Does Defensia detect CVE-2021-47410?
Yes — Defensia's CVE advisory scanner compares installed package versions against the NVD database. If the Linux kernel is installed on a monitored server, CVE-2021-47410 will appear in your dashboard with remediation steps.
