CVE-2026-47265·Python vulnerability
AIOHTTP is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. Prior to version 3.14.0, cookies set with the `cookies` parameter on requests are sent after following a cross-origin redirect. If a developer uses the `cookies` parameter on a per-request basis then sensitive data might be leaked to an attacker if they manage to control a redirect. Version 3.14.0 patches the issue. If unable to upgrade, using a `Cookie` header in the `headers` parameter is not vulnerable.

How to fix this CVE
Upgrade AIOHTTP to version 3.14.0 or later to prevent sensitive cookies from being transmitted across cross-origin redirects. If you use the `cookies` parameter in per-request configurations, this update is critical to protect against credential leakage. As a temporary workaround, replace the `cookies` parameter with a `Cookie` header in the `headers` parameter instead.
sudo dnf update python3-aiohttp -y || sudo pip3 install --upgrade aiohttp>=3.14.0Defensia detects this vulnerability
How to check if you are affected
- Run `python3 -c "import aiohttp; print(aiohttp.__version__)"` to check the currently installed AIOHTTP version
- Search your application code for instances of `session.request()` or `session.get/post/put/delete()` calls that include a `cookies=` parameter
- Review HTTP redirect chains in your application logs (status codes 301, 302, 303, 307, 308) to identify cross-origin redirects
- After upgrading, re-run the version check command and confirm the output shows version 3.14.0 or later
FAQ
What is CVE-2026-47265?
This vulnerability in AIOHTTP allows sensitive cookies passed via the `cookies` parameter to be leaked when following cross-origin redirects. An attacker controlling the redirect destination could capture authentication tokens or session data intended for the original domain.
Is CVE-2026-47265 being actively exploited?
No, this vulnerability is not currently listed in the CISA KEV catalog and no public exploits are available, though the risk remains significant for applications handling sensitive authentication cookies.
What versions of Python are affected by CVE-2026-47265?
AIOHTTP versions prior to 3.14.0 are affected. The vulnerability impacts any Python application using AIOHTTP with the per-request `cookies` parameter, regardless of the Python version itself.
How do I check if my server is vulnerable to CVE-2026-47265?
Run `python3 -c "import aiohttp; print(aiohttp.__version__)"` and verify the version is 3.14.0 or later. If the output shows an earlier version, your server is vulnerable.
Does Defensia detect CVE-2026-47265?
Yes — Defensia's CVE advisory scanner compares installed package versions against the NVD database. If AIOHTTP is installed on a monitored server, CVE-2026-47265 will appear in your dashboard with remediation steps.
