CVE-2024-46746·Kernel vulnerability

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: amd_sfh: free driver_data after destroying hid device HID driver callbacks aren't called anymore once hid_destroy_device() has been called. Hence, hid driver_data should be freed only after the hid_destroy_device() function returned as driver_data is used in several callbacks. I observed a crash with kernel 6.10.0 on my T14s Gen 3, after enabling KASAN to debug memory allocation, I got this output: [ 13.050438] ================================================================== [ 13.054060] BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in amd_sfh_get_report+0x3ec/0x530 [amd_sfh] [ 13.054809] psmouse serio1: trackpoint: Synaptics TrackPoint firmware: 0x02, buttons: 3/3 [ 13.056432] Read of size 8 at addr ffff88813152f408 by task (udev-worker)/479 [ 13.060970] CPU: 5 PID: 479 Comm: (udev-worker) Not tainted 6.10.0-arch1-2 #1 893bb55d7f0073f25c46adbb49eb3785fefd74b0 [ 13.063978] Hardware name: LENOVO 21CQCTO1WW/21CQCTO1WW, BIOS R22ET70W (1.40 ) 03/21/2024 [ 13.067860] Call Trace: [ 13.069383] input: TPPS/2 Synaptics TrackPoint as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input8 [ 13.071486] <TASK> [ 13.071492] dump_stack_lvl+0x5d/0x80 [ 13.074870] snd_hda_intel 0000:33:00.6: enabling device (0000 -> 0002) [ 13.078296] ? amd_sfh_get_report+0x3ec/0x530 [amd_sfh 05f43221435b5205f734cd9da29399130f398a38] [ 13.082199] print_report+0x174/0x505 [ 13.085776] ? __pfx__raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x10/0x10 [ 13.089367] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 [ 13.093255] ? amd_sfh_get_report+0x3ec/0x530 [amd_sfh 05f43221435b5205f734cd9da29399130f398a38] [ 13.097464] kasan_report+0xc8/0x150 [ 13.101461] ? amd_sfh_get_report+0x3ec/0x530 [amd_sfh 05f43221435b5205f734cd9da29399130f398a38] [ 13.105802] amd_sfh_get_report+0x3ec/0x530 [amd_sfh 05f43221435b5205f734cd9da29399130f398a38] [ 13.110303] amdtp_hid_request+0xb8/0x110 [amd_sfh 05f43221435b5205f734cd9da29399130f398a38] [ 13.114879] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 [ 13.119450] sensor_hub_get_feature+0x1d3/0x540 [hid_sensor_hub 3f13be3016ff415bea03008d45d99da837ee3082] [ 13.124097] hid_sensor_parse_common_attributes+0x4d0/0xad0 [hid_sensor_iio_common c3a5cbe93969c28b122609768bbe23efe52eb8f5] [ 13.127404] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 [ 13.131925] ? __pfx_hid_sensor_parse_common_attributes+0x10/0x10 [hid_sensor_iio_common c3a5cbe93969c28b122609768bbe23efe52eb8f5] [ 13.136455] ? _raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x96/0xf0 [ 13.140197] ? __pfx__raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x10/0x10 [ 13.143602] ? devm_iio_device_alloc+0x34/0x50 [industrialio 3d261d5e5765625d2b052be40e526d62b1d2123b] [ 13.147234] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 [ 13.150446] ? __devm_add_action+0x167/0x1d0 [ 13.155061] hid_gyro_3d_probe+0x120/0x7f0 [hid_sensor_gyro_3d 63da36a143b775846ab2dbb86c343b401b5e3172] [ 13.158581] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 [ 13.161814] platform_probe+0xa2/0x150 [ 13.165029] really_probe+0x1e3/0x8a0 [ 13.168243] __driver_probe_device+0x18c/0x370 [ 13.171500] driver_probe_device+0x4a/0x120 [ 13.175000] __driver_attach+0x190/0x4a0 [ 13.178521] ? __pfx___driver_attach+0x10/0x10 [ 13.181771] bus_for_each_dev+0x106/0x180 [ 13.185033] ? __pfx__raw_spin_lock+0x10/0x10 [ 13.188229] ? __pfx_bus_for_each_dev+0x10/0x10 [ 13.191446] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 [ 13.194382] bus_add_driver+0x29e/0x4d0 [ 13.197328] driver_register+0x1a5/0x360 [ 13.200283] ? __pfx_hid_gyro_3d_platform_driver_init+0x10/0x10 [hid_sensor_gyro_3d 63da36a143b775846ab2dbb86c343b401b5e3172] [ 13.203362] do_one_initcall+0xa7/0x380 [ 13.206432] ? __pfx_do_one_initcall+0x10/0x10 [ 13.210175] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 [ 13.213211] ? kasan_unpoison+0x44/0x70 [ 13.216688] do_init_module+0x238/0x750 [ 13.2196 ---truncated---

How to fix this CVE

Update your Linux kernel to version 6.10.10 or later to resolve a use-after-free vulnerability in the AMD Sensor Fusion Hub (amd_sfh) HID driver. This flaw occurs when driver data is freed before HID device destruction completes, causing memory corruption and potential system crashes. Affected systems running kernels 6.7 through 6.10.9 should prioritize this update immediately.

sudo dnf update kernel kernel-devel && sudo reboot

Defensia detects this vulnerability

How to check if you are affected

  1. Run 'uname -r' to check your current kernel version; versions 6.7.x through 6.10.9 are vulnerable
  2. Verify if amd_sfh module is loaded: 'lsmod | grep amd_sfh' — if output appears, your system may be affected
  3. Check system logs for KASAN or memory corruption errors: 'sudo dmesg | grep -i "use-after-free\|amd_sfh\|KASAN"'
  4. After patching, confirm kernel version with 'uname -r' to ensure 6.10.10 or later is running

CVE-2026-100075CVSS 9.8In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/srpt: Fix srpt_alloc_rw_ctxs() unwind counters When srpt_alloc_rw_ctxs() fails partway through a multi-buffer indirect descriptor, the unwind path destroys RDMA contexts but leaves stale n_rw_ctx and n_rdma values (and a dangling rw_ctxs pointer). Later sq_wr_avail accounting in srpt_queue_response() or srpt_write_pending() can then subtract the wrong number of send queue credits. Reset the counters and clear rw_ctxs after freeing the heap allocation before returning an error.
CVE-2026-64397CVSS 9.8In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: serialize QUERY_DIRECTORY requests per file smb2_query_dir() stores a pointer to its stack-allocated private data in the ksmbd_file readdir_data. Concurrent QUERY_DIRECTORY requests using the same file handle can overwrite this pointer while an iterate_dir() callback is still using it, resulting in a stack use-after-free. Add a per-file mutex and hold it while accessing the shared directory enumeration state. The lock covers scan restart, dot entry state, readdir_data setup and iteration, and response construction. This prevents another request from replacing readdir_data.private before the current request has finished using it and also serializes the shared file position.
CVE-2026-64399CVSS 9.8In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: add permission checks for FSCTL_DUPLICATE_EXTENTS_TO_FILE The FSCTL_DUPLICATE_EXTENTS_TO_FILE arm of smb2_ioctl() overwrites the destination file's data via vfs_clone_file_range() with neither the share-level KSMBD_TREE_CONN_FLAG_WRITABLE check nor a per-handle fp->daccess check that the other write-bearing arms carry. A client can overwrite destination data on a read-only share, or from a handle opened with only FILE_WRITE_ATTRIBUTES (which still yields an FMODE_WRITE filp). FILE_WRITE_ATTRIBUTES-only destination handle overwrote the file's data via the clone. Add both checks, matching the FSCTL_SET_SPARSE permission fix; require FILE_WRITE_DATA since this writes data.
CVE-2026-64066CVSS 9.8In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: Fix netfs_read_to_pagecache() to pause on subreq failure Fix netfs_read_to_pagecache() so that it pauses the generation of new subrequests if an already-issued subrequest fails.
CVE-2026-52924CVSS 9.8In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sctp: purge outqueue on stale COOKIE-ECHO handling sctp_stream_update() is only invoked when the association is moved into COOKIE_WAIT during association setup/reconfiguration. In this path, the outbound stream scheduler state (stream->out_curr) is expected to be clean, since no user data should have been transmitted yet unless the state machine has already partially progressed. However, a corner case exists in sctp_sf_do_5_2_6_stale(): when a Stale Cookie ERROR is received, the association is rolled back from COOKIE_ECHOED to COOKIE_WAIT. In this scenario, user data may already have been queued and even bundled with the COOKIE-ECHO chunk. During the rollback, sctp_stream_update() frees the old stream table and installs a new one, but it does not invalidate stream->out_curr. As a result, out_curr may still point to a freed sctp_stream_out entry from the previous stream state. Later, SCTP scheduler dequeue paths (FCFS, RR, PRIO, etc.) rely on stream->out_curr->ext, which can lead to use-after-free once the old stream state has been released via sctp_stream_free(). This results in crashes such as (reported by Yuqi): BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in sctp_sched_fcfs_dequeue+0x13a/0x140 Read of size 8 at addr ff1100004d4d3208 by task mini_poc/9312 CPU: 1 UID: 1001 PID: 9312 Comm: mini_poc Not tainted 7.1.0-rc1-00305-gbd3a4795d574 #5 PREEMPT(full) sctp_sched_fcfs_dequeue+0x13a/0x140 sctp_outq_flush+0x1603/0x33e0 sctp_do_sm+0x31c9/0x5d30 sctp_assoc_bh_rcv+0x392/0x6f0 sctp_inq_push+0x1db/0x270 sctp_rcv+0x138d/0x3c10 Fix this by fully purging the association outqueue when handling the Stale Cookie case. This ensures all pending transmit and retransmit state is dropped, and any scheduler cached pointers are invalidated, making it safe to rebuild stream state during COOKIE_WAIT restart. Updating only stream->out_curr would be insufficient, since queued and retransmittable data would still reference the old stream state and trigger later use-after-free in dequeue paths.
