CVE-2025-67510·PHP vulnerability
Neuron is a PHP framework for creating and orchestrating AI Agents. In versions 2.8.11 and below, the MySQLWriteTool executes arbitrary SQL provided by the caller using PDO::prepare() + execute() without semantic restrictions. This is consistent with the name (“write tool”), but in an LLM/agent context it becomes a high-risk capability: prompt injection or indirect prompt manipulation can cause execution of destructive queries such as DROP TABLE, TRUNCATE, DELETE, ALTER, or privilege-related statements (subject to DB permissions). Deployments that expose an agent with MySQLWriteTool enabled to untrusted input and/or run the tool with a DB user that has broad privileges are impacted. This issue is fixed in version 2.8.12.

How to fix this CVE
Organizations using the Neuron PHP framework must upgrade to version 2.8.12 or later to mitigate SQL injection risks from the MySQLWriteTool component. If your AI agents expose database write capabilities to untrusted input or operate with overly permissive database credentials, prioritize this patch immediately. Additionally, review database user permissions to follow the principle of least privilege and restrict agent tool access to read-only operations where possible.

WAF mitigation (if patching is not yet possible)
Add this rule to your WAF to block exploitation attempts while you schedule the patch.
Implement WAF rules to detect and block requests containing SQL keywords (DROP TABLE, TRUNCATE, ALTER TABLE, GRANT, REVOKE) in parameters sent to endpoints that invoke MySQLWriteTool. Monitor for unusual database modification requests originating from AI agent processing endpoints and enforce query whitelisting at the application level. How to check if you are affected
- Step 1: Check PHP version with `php -v` and verify if Neuron framework is installed by checking `composer show neuron-core/neuron-ai` in your project root
- Step 2: Search your codebase for MySQLWriteTool instantiation: `grep -r 'MySQLWriteTool' /path/to/app/`
- Step 3: Review database logs for suspicious DROP TABLE, TRUNCATE, DELETE, ALTER, or GRANT statements from unexpected sources using `grep -i 'drop table\|truncate\|alter table' /var/log/mysql/error.log`
- Step 4: Verify the fix by confirming Neuron version 2.8.12+ is installed with `composer show neuron-core/neuron-ai | grep Version`
FAQ
What is CVE-2025-67510?
CVE-2025-67510 is a critical SQL injection vulnerability in the Neuron PHP framework's MySQLWriteTool that allows attackers to execute arbitrary SQL queries through prompt injection or indirect manipulation of LLM agents, potentially leading to data destruction or unauthorized database modifications.
Is CVE-2025-67510 being actively exploited?
No, CVE-2025-67510 is not currently listed in the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and no public exploits have been disclosed as of this advisory.
What versions of PHP and Neuron are affected by CVE-2025-67510?
The Neuron framework versions 2.8.11 and below are vulnerable; the fix is available in version 2.8.12 and later. This affects PHP applications using the vulnerable Neuron package.
How do I check if my server is vulnerable to CVE-2025-67510?
Run `composer show neuron-core/neuron-ai` in your application directory to determine the installed version, then compare against version 2.8.12. If the version is 2.8.11 or earlier, your deployment is vulnerable.
Does Defensia detect CVE-2025-67510?
Yes — Defensia's CVE advisory scanner compares installed package versions against the NVD database. If PHP and the Neuron framework are installed on a monitored server, CVE-2025-67510 will appear in your dashboard with remediation steps.
